The centres in the OPEN portfolio are located in central locations in major suburban cities or in the best locations in secondary and tertiary cities in Germany. The tenants’ retail concepts are innovative and we work closely with our tenants to make the centres future-proof in the long term.

Today we would like to introduce you to the EDEKA Brehm store in our Mahlsdorfer Märkte centre on the outskirts of the capital Berlin. Even though the EDEKA store has an unusually small sales area for a supermarket of approx. 1,100 m², it combines a very large fresh produce assortment with the complete variety of goods of a usually larger supermarket and is one of the “state of the art” stores in the portfolio. It offers a chic store design with inviting fruit shelves, a detergent refill station, a sushi bar and a fresh juice station. Thanks to particularly high ceilings (6.80 metres), high-quality floors, a lot of wood optics, marble optics as well as little promotional merchandise, the shop appears modern, tidy and airy. The shopfitting was carried out by EDEKA’s own company Linovag.

Groceries can be ordered via Click & Collect or are delivered directly and sustainably by e-trike (three-wheeled e-bike).

The full-assortment grocer places great emphasis on supporting the local economy by stocking goods from local suppliers and making environmentally conscious choices through recycled or reusable packaging. To create a special shopping experience and also make grocery shopping an experience, the store has a café with a pastry shop including a cosy terrace to linger on. Fun Fact: The store is hyped as THE Berlin EDEKA store, as can be seen very often on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

EDEKA Brehm received the “STORE OF THE YEAR 2021” award for the “outstanding shop concept” in the FOOD category. You can get an insight here.
