The acquisition of a newly built centre is always exciting. Especially when you can see the lifecycle of the property, from foundations to being fully built. The completion of OPEN’s new retail centre in Wittenberge is progressing. This week, the Greenman team led by Head of Portfolio, Moritz Lind, together with the developer Hans Harms and his team from Harms Consulting, were pleased to celebrate the “Richtfest” ceremony in the Brandenburg town in the Prignitz region. Mayor Oliver Hermann and the press were also present at the event.

The retail park is anchored by one of Germany’s leading full-range grocery retailers, REWE, with its latest green building design which is already noticeable by the innovative architecture of the building. The characteristic structural frame of a Green Building is formed using wood, a renewable resource, which is used for the front façade and the roof shell. Environmentally friendly and recyclable building materials are also used in other areas. Large windows and light domes make customers and staff feel right at home in the store.

Greenman OPEN looks forward to taking over the turnkey delivery of the new retail centre. The official Centre opening is targeted for November 2021. Due to the centre’s central location in the city centre, and the infrastructural integration into the nearer and wider surroundings through the four-country corner, the centre will establish itself as both an urban, but also a regional shopping centre.
